“City government should be a guardian of your freedoms, not a manager of your choices.”

— Michelle Tanner, St. George City Council

Michelle Tanner is currently serving her first term on the St. George City Council, where she has focused on public safety, limited government, tax restraint, and amplifying the voice of everyday citizens. She has worked with state lawmakers to protect children and preserve St. George’s family-friendly values, while helping to reform local ordinances to support small businesses and property rights.

A Southern Utah native, Michelle was born on Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota and raised in St. George. Her deep roots in the area—and growing up with six older brothers—gave her a thick skin and fostered her love for the outdoors, including running 12 St. George Marathons.

Michelle holds nursing degrees from DSU and BYU–Idaho and is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a graduate degree from the University of South Alabama. She spent a decade in emergency medicine and now runs her own clinic in St. George. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she became a strong advocate for medical freedom and access to alternative treatments.

Beyond her professional and public service, Michelle has participated in humanitarian missions and serves on several community boards. Most importantly, she is a devoted wife and mother of two. Her passion for faith, family, freedom, and constitutional principles drives her continued work to protect the rights and future of the next generation.
